Each year the State Fair of West Virginia hosts hundreds of food concessionaires, outdoor & indoor vendors, non-profit organizations and many others. The planning process for concessions/commercial exhibits takes place throughout the entire year leading up to the Fair in August.
Anyone who is interested in showcasing their business/organization at the Fair is encouraged to read ALL points of General Information listed at the bottom of this page prior to placing an application. All applications are reviewed and considered based on needs of the Fair and requests of Fairgoers.
Grandstand Marketplace, Outdoor Retail Sales & Displays, or Miscellaneous Nonprofits
Applications for space consideration in future Fairs will be made available in November, 2010. Please refer to the website at that time for details on how to apply. Thank you for your interest in the State Fair of WV!
From year to year a variety of opportunities exist, including shorter exhibit segments vs. participating for the full nine day fair. If you represent a non-profit organization that would like to participate in an upcoming Fair but only have the resources to staff space for 1 to 2 days, then please inquire about our 'Community Service Tent'.
**All vendors and their staff are required to have gate admission for each day that they wish to enter the Fair**
Outdoor Vendors -
All rental fees are based on FRONT FOOTAGE of space assigned. Fees are charged per foot. Outdoor concessionaires who need to rent a tent for their exhibit may do so through the State Fair. Spaces are assigned in 5' increments and a minimum of 15' is required. Utility fees are additional and will be outlined when a lease agreement is presented.
Indoor Grandstand Marketplace -
Indoor booth spaces are 10 x 10 and 10 x 13. Some spaces will have special features. Prices start at $510 and up for all nine days of the fair and include electric. Water is not available. Phone service and gate admission for staff are extra.
State Agencies -
Please note that ONLY official State Agencies qualify for space inside the West Virginia Building and ONLY Agricultural Agencies, appproved by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, qualify for space inside the Gus R. Douglass Annex.
Booth spaces are 10 x 10 with electrical service to each booth. Limited storage available. State agencies must submit an application before being considered for space in either the West Virginia Building or the Gus R. Douglass Annex. Spaces are limited and require a nine day commitment of staff and resources. Any agency that can not fulfill this commitment should consider a Community Service option.
Food Vendors -
Food vendors pay a base rent against a %. The base rent is based on front footage for mobile stands and square footage for permanent stands. Utility fees are additional and will be outlined when a lease agreement is presented.
Arts & Crafts/Heritage Village Marketplace -
This area is designed for anyone wishing to sell a handcrafted product who is willing to demonstrate their work/craft. Preference will be given to those able to demonstrate their craft and to those crafters whose product the committee deems to be "hand-made". Artisans are juried so that a variety of items may be offered to fairgoers. Artisans must reapply each year.
The State Fair of West Virginia, with its continued commitment to the history and traditions of West Virginia, is working to showcase traditional Appalachian crafters in the Heritage Village Marketplace Pavilion. As such, crafters that successfully represent this area, and are able to demonstrater their craft, will be given first priority. Should space still be available, additional applications will be considered accordingly. Please note that at this time we are only accepting applications for exhibitors that are able to be present for the entire length of the Fair.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Applications are required of ALL vendors (no exceptions)
- Deposit requirements differ based on the type of concession.
- Photos are required of each concession or exhibit and/or service or product materials
- Preference is given to applicants who previously participated successfully at the State Fair and fully complied with the terms and conditions of their contracts.
- We typically receive more inquiries than we can accommodate.
- Because we strive to contract only the highest quality commercial exhibits and concessions, the openings are very competitive.
- Anyone chosen to receive a contract with the State Fair must have the qualifications and experience to serve our guests. Good references and a proven record of quality service are necessary for anyone seeking to offer their commercial presentation at the State Fair of West Virginia.
You will NOT receive communication about your application until there is availability in the area where you have applied. Spaces are assigned to provide a variety of goods and services to our customers. Your application will be kept on file for three years and you may be contacted at any time.
